Delivering Tesla's Australasian expansion
As demand continues to accelerate, Tesla has engaged with 98É«»¨Ìà and i2C Architects to deliver their highly anticipated Australasian expansion. At the heart of it all, a commitment to providing exceptional customer experience to a growing population of Tesla drivers.
The first of a multi-site roll-out has taken up residence in a former Miranda warehouse, with extensive building upgrades both architecturally and to existing services. In particular, major electrical service distribution from the authority mains throughout the building to ensure it meets the highest of Tesla international standards.
The redevelopment features an integrated customer lounge and showroom with an adjacent warehouse for servicing vehicles; complete with wash bays, a complex array of air, water & power service lines, and multiple vehicle hoists. Beneath the sprawling and pristine service floor lies a basement carpark for new vehicle deliveries and charging stations.
Optimising construction efficiency throughout the project
The varying and confined floorplates present an exciting challenge – to provide the ultimate customer experience while maximising operational efficiency for a vast number of activities.
Given Tesla’s meteoric growth, it comes as no surprise that legendary innovator Musk and his team have been hands on for the Australian roll-out. Basing their local team on-site, they have seen a number of opportunities throughout construction to further optimise efficiency as the project has progressed.
A commitment to support
With a commitment to support Tesla, while delivering to our original timeframe, this meant adopting a highly proactive and flexible approach within an accelerated programme. A staged delivery meant that the Tesla crew and mechanics could set-up additional equipment, allowing them to hit the ground running when the remaining stages were complete.
Along with the building’s redevelopment, power supply is critical to support Tesla’s activities. Following street closures, our team excavated to the nearest high voltage substation, allowing us to run additional power lines back to the building, increase electrical capacity.
