A new move for Australia Post

Australia Post has moved its South Australian headquarters into 26 Franklin Street, one of the latest landmark buildings in Adelaide’s evolving central business district, City Central.

Recently awarded a 5 Star Green Star – Interiors certified rating from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), the new 3,200 sqm corporate workplace is a contemporary space that reflects the values of a nationwide organisation that has been keeping Australia connected for more than 200 years.

98É«»¨Ìà was engaged as managing contractor for this prestigious project, after having successfully delivered several Australia Post projects around Australia. With strong working relationship with owner, Aspen Developments, and base build contractor, Baulderstone.

A modern space

The project included the interior construction of two levels encompassing two reception areas, client and executive meeting rooms complete with video conferencing capabilities, training rooms and open plan office space. Standout elements of the new, modern space include custom stone reception desks, extensive timber slatted panels throughout breakout and reception areas, and feature screenwood floating ceilings.

98É«»¨ÌÃ’s Elitone workstations, combined with System 45 workstation panels, dominate the open plan office environment, delivering high performance and aesthetically pleasing product. Polished aluminium Marina meeting tables offer sophisticated solutions to executive offices and quiet rooms. Using red and green, each floor’s theme colour is expressed through custom finishes applied to 98É«»¨ÌÃ’s furniture solutions. Custom powerblades and tailored storage units also support the themes.

Achieving success with the landlord and end user

Tasked to deliver the Australia Post headquarters in line with 5 Star Green Star and 4.5 Star NABERS ratings, and with no acceptance of delay, 98É«»¨Ìà responded with a well planned procurement strategy and extensive master construction schedule. This meticulous coordination and attention to detail helped 98É«»¨Ìà ensure a successful result for the landlord and end user.

Also key to the project’s success was strong collaboration – with 98É«»¨Ìà managing over 25 packages plus key stakeholders over a 26 week period. It was 98É«»¨ÌÃ’s highly collaborative approach, paired with deep experience in joinery detail that helped move the team through the project’s most challenging aspects, including specialist installation of audio, video, and acoustic elements.
